Naomi Beard is Lawyers Life Coach’s co-principal and founded its California offices. After nine years of large law firm legal practice -- both in Washington, DC and Los Angeles (Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP; Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP) -- Naomi decided to provide full service coaching and consulting services to law firm attorneys at all levels of seniority to empower themselves to accomplish their goals through active self-management of their careers. She also has extensive experience working with attorneys who are in career transitions, whether inside or outside of law. Naomi’s coaching work spans the array of challenges that lawyers face in today’s world of legal practice. She works with lawyers, on an individual and group basis, to improve their communication and leadership skills, advance their business development skills and marketing plans, manage their stress and anxiety, and improve their work-life integration. Naomi also works with attorneys who find themselves -- voluntarily or otherwise -- in need of transitioning out of their places In collaboration with firm leadership, Naomi advises law firms and other legal employers on program development and systems interventions. She works with firms of all sizes on talent management initiatives including the creation of mentoring programs, core competencies models, performance reviews, business development training and lateral integration. Naomi graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law, Order of the Coif, in 1997 and received her undergraduate degree from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, magna cum laude, in 1993. She is a certified as a CMC through MentorCoach LLC, the highest level of certification awarded by this accredited coach training school. In addition, Naomi is qualified to administer and interpret a variety of standardized qualitative assessments, including, for example, the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, FIRO-B, CPI 260, the Strong Interest Inventory and the Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument. Naomi is a member of the California, Virginia, and Washington, DC bars, as well as of the ABA, the Los Angeles County Bar Association, the Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles, International Coach Federation, the Association for Psychological Type and the American Counseling Association. She speaks regularly at bar association and industry events, has been published in the New York Law Journal, and her written contributions to Lawyers Life Coach’s newsletter have been reprinted in several online and print venues. She lives in suburban Los Angeles with her husband and four children. |
